Paul began violin at age 5 with private classical lessons from symphony concertmistress and Juliard-trained Shirley Lynch. During his youth he was a member of two city symphonies, and was a Featured Soloist with the Santa Maria Symphomy under critically-acclaimed conductor Samuel Gorbach. Later he went on to study Bluegrass and Country Music at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.
